Here are some commonly asked questions and helpful answers:

When does the school day begin and end?

School begins at 8:00 a.m. and concludes at 2:30 p.m. Children should not arrive at school before 7:50 a.m. unless special arrangements have been made earlier. The faculty and staff have morning meetings, so for your child’s safety sake, we ask that children not arrive before 7:50 a.m.

Early dismissal days – Children are dismissed from school at 12 p.m.

What if my child is absent of needs to be dismissed early?

If your child is going to be absent, please call the school office before 8:45 a.m. When your child returns from his/her absence, please write a note explaining or acknowledging the absence. It is also necessary to find out what work was missed during the absence. We will be more than happy to send homework home with a sibling or a friend. You are also welcome to pick-up the homework in the office after 2:30 p.m.

If your child needs to be dismissed early, a note should be sent prior to the dismissal. You or an authorized adult should come into the office to meet your child and sign your child out of the school. No child will be allowed to leave the school or wait outside of the building without an authorized adult.

What if my child forgets something at home?

If your child forgets something at home and you wish to deliver it, please bring whatever it is to the office. We will see that your child receives it. Please mark the item with your child’s name and grade.

What about Lunch?

The DPC Lunch program provides daily lunches. Menus are published monthly and students may choose to order a lunch daily or pack a lunch. Milk is sold. Additional items are available. More information on the lunch program is distributed at the initial Open House.

What about a Dress Code?

Students at St. John Bosco Academy wear uniforms as detailed in the school handbook. Children’s shirts and blouses are to be tucked in to slacks and pants. Appropriate school shoes and socks are to be worn. Tennis shoes are only permitted in gym class. Dress and grooming are important. Emphasis is on cleanliness and neatness. Extreme fads and styles are neither appropriate nor acceptable for our school.
